The vision of The Tree of Life opened up to me this week in ways it never has before.
Following are some favorite insights from my personal study of 1 Nephi 6-10. What inspirational gems did you discover in your personal study of The Tree of Life?

Our Story
I wonder: Do I realize that I am part of this story? Will that knowledge lead to me studying the scriptures in a new, more meaningful way?
Parable of the Olive Tree
Lehi discovered the Parable of the Olive Tree (Zenos, Jacob 5) while searching the brass plates. This parable answered his questions of how his people, and Laman and Lemuel, might be saved.
I wonder: Does learning how meaningful the Parable of the Olive Tree was to Lehi deepen my desire to understand the meaning of the parable and how it applies to me?
The Small and Large Plates
I wonder: Do I understand the difference between the small and large plates of Nephi? Do I understand the significance of the small plates in light of the lost 116 page manuscript?
Mist of Darkness
I wonder: Do I murmur while wandering in my own mists of darkness, or do I choose to cry out in mercy to God? In what ways might I be creating my own mists of darkness?
“You should care more about the amount of time you spend in the scriptures than the amount you read in that time.” ~ Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Stay at the Tree
I wonder: When inviting others to come taste the sweetness of the fruit, do I remain at the tree? Do I allow others their agency, even when we disagree with their choice?
First Love (Revelation 2:4)
When Lehi was partaking of the fruit of the tree he beckoned others to join him.
I wonder: If I am not actively beckoning others to come taste of the sweetness of the fruit by sharing the joy of the gospel, does that mean I have wandered away from the tree and need to find my way back?
Strange Building (Great & Spacious)
I wonder: When in my life have I found myself in the great and spacious building, mocking others? Are the building and the people in it enticing to me at all, or does the elevated building with no foundation feel more like a “strange building”that I’d like to avoid?
David and Abrahamic Covenants
I wonder: Did Laman and Lemuel believe Jerusalem would not be destroyed due to the promises made in the Davidic and Abrahamic Covenants? Do I sometimes forget the promise that God will only protect the land we live on if we as a people keep His commandments?

The Messiah
I wonder: In what ways do the details about the Messiah in Chapter 10 parallel the story of The Tree of Life in Chapter 8?
The Power to Act
I wonder: What action will I take, beginning today, to apply to my life the lessons learned from 1 Nephi 6-10?

Quotes
“The tree of life… is the love of God. The love of God for His children is most profoundly expressed in His gift of Jesus as our Redeemer: ‘God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son’. To partake of the love of god is to partake of Jesus’ Atonement and the emancipations and joys which it can bring.” ~ Neal A. Maxwell, Lessons from Laman and Lemuel, LDS General Conference, October 1999
“Lehi’s message is to stay by the tree. We stay because we are converted unto the Lord. Alma taught, “Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God.”11 As we yield our hearts to God, the Holy Ghost changes our very natures, we become deeply converted unto the Lord, and we no longer seek the spacious building.” ~ Elder Kevin W. Pearson, Stay By The Tree, April 2015
