Went into my girls’ bedroom late last night to remind them it was time for lights out.
“Oh, sorry!” they said. “We were talking politics.”
(They are 12, 10, and 8.)
A few days ago, one daughter wrote these simple, yet profound, truths:
“WHY ARE MORAL PEOPLE REQUIRED FOR GOOD GOVERNMENT?
Moral people are required for good government because they:
1. Are more likely to make moral laws
2. Will turn to God to make decisions
3. Will listen to the voice of the people
First, moral people are more likely to create moral laws. For example, we have religious freedom. That is a moral law. Freedom in itself is a moral law. The definition of moral is: “..good in conduct or character…” I know that if we have moral people in America, we will succeed as a nation.
Second, moral people will turn to God to make decisions. Abraham Lincoln prayed and promised that if God would help the Union win this one battle, he, in turn, would free the slaves. It seemed impossible that they would win, but they did, and president Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. That shows that God cares about America.
Third, they will listen to the voice of the people. Moral and righteous leaders care about our Founding Fathers and want to obey the Constitution, which says that the leaders, from Mayor to President, must listen to the people and do what they want.
I know that if we have moral people in office, we will succeed.”
Amen, daughter, amen.

This is, by far, the best world history timeline I have come across. Does anyone else own it and love it? It is 24 feet long, and stunning to look at. A conversation piece, for sure!
You can hang it on a wall, or keep it in the book. This is absolutely going to change the way our family learns about history. ![]()
